2013 Workshops

Workshops will be provided by Brad Mason, LPC, LPA, LSSP in partnership with the Georgetown Project at the Bridges to Growth Resource Center 805 W. University Avenue on Highway 29 at Scenic Drive, less than a mile East of I-35.

These workshops are intended for parents, teachers, and therapists interested in learning new skills to teach children effective problem solving, emotional management, and social skills. Preschool teachers are eligible for continuing education credit.

For an additional $5.00 each workshop is good for 2 clock hours (CEU’s) for psychologists, LSSP’s, LMSW’s, LCSW’s, LMFT’s, and LPC’s.

September 30   Digital Culture and Child Development-Review of astonishing research, both pros and cons, about digital media, brain development, and human behavior. How does the internet and video games train the brain? What are the pros and cons?

October 7  The Overindulged Child– How to reverse being too good to a child by setting appropriate boundaries and limits. What are the signs that you have done too much for them, and how can a child so cared for struggle with self-esteem or be so abusive of others?

 

October 28  The Struggles of the Gifted Child

Gifted children can be exhausting, emotionally intense, socially off, and often fail to get indentified. They can be misdiagnosed with ADHD, OCD, Bipolar, Asperger Syndrome. Learn how to identify and care for these special people from an early age.
