Workshops

Workshops will be provided by Brad Mason, LPC, LPA, LSSP in partnership with the Georgetown Project at the Bridges to Growth Resource Center on Highway 29 near Williams Elementary in Georgetown, Texas. Brad Mason has been a Licensed Specialist in School Psychology for 15 years and operates a private practice in Georgetown. For more information about him go to http://www.bradmasoncounselor.com/

These workshops are intended for parents, teachers, and therapists interested in learning new skills to teach children effective problem solving, emotional management, and social skills. Preschool teachers are eligible for continuing education credit.

Cost: $15.00 per class

Faith-Based Parenting and Behavior Management
Explore what the bible says about your role as a parent or teacher and Christian-based discipline methods
Thursday, April 29, 7-9pm

Teaching Social Skills Through Play: Games that help develop basic play skills for children who get left out or are over-controlling.
Tuesday, May 4, 7-9pm

Social Thinking: How to teach the thinking skills necessary for successful group activities and expected behaviors in group situations.
Tuesday, May 25, 7-9pm

Behavior Management at it’s Best: Understand and implement the best ideas about behavior that science has to offer!
Tuesday, June 1, 7-9pm

Self-talk, Self-esteem, and Emotional Control: Learn how these are linked together with thinking skills and problem-solving that can be taught to any child that is verbal.
Tuesday, June 15 7-9pm

Brain Skills for Better Behavior: Learn about the executive functions, or brain skills, that underlie learning and behavior; how to assess and remediate or teach the thinking skills necessary for learning and organized, goal directed behavior and self-regulation, such as inhibition, flexibility, emotional control, organization, time management, self-awareness. Tuesday, June 29, 7 - 9 P.M.

Relating effectively to the child with ADHD or Oppositional/Defiant Behavior: Teaching them to do what you want and feel good about themselves!

Stages of Childhood Development: Identifying What Kind of Adult Responses Best Suit the Child in a Particular Stage
Saturday, July 17, 10-12pm

Social and Emotional Coping Skills: How to coach children in the thinking and problem solving skills they need to be more flexible, less anxious, more compliant, and develop positive self-esteem. These strategies are effective with all verbal children, including children who are gifted, rigid, ADHD, Bipolar, High-Functioning Autistic or Asperger Syndrome.

Anxiety and Children: Learn how to help children overcome their fears and panic attacks so they can be more flexible and stop avoiding, demanding, crying, and controlling.

Counter-acting the Impact of American Culture on Childhood Development

Anger and Children: Learn where rages and aggression come from, why children do it, and how to teach them to recognize, express, and manage emotional responses appropriately.
